CHARTER SCHOOL POLICY MANUAL

Bent Creek Services (BCS) provides professionally written and legally referenced policies tailored to the governance and operation of charter and cyber charter schools. The compilation of the BCS policy guides is referred to as the Essential Policy Guides Manual

The Essential Policy Guides Manual for Charter Schools has been designed as a foundation for your charter school’s Board of Trustees, Chief Executive Officer, administrators and legal counsel to use in developing a customized Policy Manual specific to your charter school. Each policy guide has been researched and drafted to meet the requirements of state and federal laws and regulations, as well as recommended best practices to address legal liability and promote strong governance for your charter school. Over 170 essential policy guides are included throughout the following sections to provide a comprehensive approach to governance:

0000 Board of Trustees
1000 Programs
2000 Students
3000 Employees
4000 Finances
5000 Property
6000 Operations
7000 Community

The charter school should review and modify the guides to reflect the specific charter, established bylaws and practices and operations, while also maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The policy guides provided pursuant to this service do not constitute the rendering of legal advice or services. The board of trustees is responsible for the final review and approval of policies it adopts and for obtaining independent legal advice and review. After the Essential Policy Guides Manual is received, designated individuals at the charter school will have access to the Charter Policy News Network (CPNN) newsletter. A CPNN is issued each time a new BCS policy guide is developed or a current BCS policy guide is revised to comply with changes in state and federal laws and regulations.
